New Beginnings
by Michael on Mar.15, 2011, under Life
The sudden spurt of “out of school” activity that the Christmas season brought, subsided into an eerie silence for much of winter break. In a majority of my friend’s calendar, January had been penciled as a month off. It will come as a surprise to absolutely nobody, that I was back at it less than a week into the New Year. Several job offers led me to leave my position at Rider and accept an exciting new challenge at a media marketing firm in Edison as Manager of Technology Operations. As many of my family and friends have heard by now, my first day was a less then ideal eventful start filled with sirens, stitches, and a concussion. Word of advice to my fellow IT majors, data centers can be a dangerous place, be careful and watch the floor. After a short stay in the hospital The Office of Information Technology at Rider fired back with an offer letter to return to good company full time with a new title. I graciously accepted and after 3 weeks of employment tendered my resignation in Edison. It’s good to know I’ll still be bleeding cranberry in Lawrenceville as a Bronc in six weeks as I continue my career and pursue my MBA. “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Confucius
I’d also like to thank everyone who came out to support the Hoop Nation Eric LeGrand Basketball Classic this past weekend, It was a phenomenal success and all proceeds were directed towards the Eric LeGrand believe fund. Photos and videos from the event will be posted on our site soon.
It’s Almost Christmas
by Michael on Dec.02, 2010, under Life
Lately daylight has been reserved for important things like school and work. My creative side really hasn’t had the means to construct or execute many projects that typically bubble up. I am however beginning to understand just how quickly things happen. Its difficult to compare the way an idea can go from not even existing to completely wrecking your schedule in a twister of urgency. Having absolutely zero free time has been tortuous, but I have a fresh outlook on exactly what can be achieved with little time.
After a wonderfull Thanksgiving break, the Christmas spirit has been hard to miss around the apartment. Upset with Rider’s decision to save money and skip out on Christmas lights, on a whim the eight of us brought the Christmas spirit inside the apartment. After several trips to Target, and a little help from Pandora, we are now living in a Winter Wonderland. I think we all learned sometimes you just need to take a break and do something together.
Now that everything is decorated, its time to get back to work, finals start next week.
Update from B316

Sometimes, completely out the blue, you get a blindingly bright view of your life from another perspective. I’m exactly where I’ve wanted to be for years and now that I’m here sometimes I forget how quick its come. The countdown to graduation has almost prematurely begun. When things pause around here, you catch a second to think how fast time has vanished. True to form the guys are continuing to be themselves and our eight man shenanigans have brought countless memories and many new friendships. I guess it’s inevitable that after a couple months away from the campus, the first couple of weeks back would feel a little like being thrown into a wind tunnel. Between pub nights and new start-ups though free time is noticeably being perceived much differently. Thursday nights have evolved into struggles over market research and logo designs. Fresh from a scene out of Social Network, in one room collaborative whispers are heavy on an idea being discussed as the ‘next big social thing’, with eight roommates though, opinion’s vary. But hey, you never know.
As usual I’ve had my creative hand in a few projects this fall. Typically I don’t plug my consulting work on my blog, but accept this as rare form. One of my roommate’s has started his own basketball training camp for kids and I’ve signed on to assist in its inception to the world wide web. Keep watch for the launch.
It’s almost sunrise and I’m wrapping up work for a personal venture I’m hoping to sling from my MacBook to more of you soon. Through everything going on here It seems admittedly when the night is over I sleep with a better sense of direction and a new appreciation of the time remaining. I’m sure it’s on everyone’s minds, but inside the pod though, not that much has changed. Life continues apace as usual.
